DAFNE is a project of the Italian Red Cross – Florence.
The risk of contracting a wide variety of diseases increases when sexual activity involves multiple different partners. The most widely known are HIV and Hepatitis but there are several others that are equally important although often overlooked.
DAFNE aims to become a point of reference and support that will improve the health conditions of those persons most at risk, offering a specialised service throughout the area.
DAFNE is Information. The key objective is to create a culture of good health practices that corrects the lack of access to correct information about these diseases. This includes methods for preventing infection, defending you against the diseases and the correct practices to reduce the risks of exposure.
DAFNE is medical consultation. Thanks to volunteer medics, it is possible to provide an initial consultation and check up, free and anonymous, for the identification and analysis of any eventual pathologies, as well as their treatment.
DAFNE is social integration. All people in the territory of Italy have the right to access the National Health Services. The volunteers of the Red Cross offer consultations to help you access these structures for the diagnosis and cure of diseases, regardless of your legal status.
All these services will be accessible on the streets from 9pm until 2am. There will also be a 24-hour call centre with an answering machine in operation to receive all requests for support.
To guarantee the easy identification of our team and the maximum protection for people accessing our services, all volunteers will work exclusively in uniforms and vehicles of the Italian Red Cross.
